Prehab. Rehab. Kneehab.

Wanted: Knee surgery patients who want to recover more quickly. (Using the Tiny Habits Method®)

Backstory

In 2001 I did 2 Ironman Triathlons within 6 months of each other. (Under-trained, gung-ho, stupid.)

In 2005 I took a massive, body-pummelling wipeout, snowboarding in Val d’Isere (Just stupid this time.)

2 months later I (perhaps ill-advisedly), cycled 1000 kilometres in 10 days across the high passes of the Alps. (Do you see a pattern here ;~}

Fast~forward to 2019: I was told I needed a new knee.

(No surprises there then.)

I’m scheduled to have my operation as soon as the important stuff the NHS has on it’s plate right now frees up capacity.

While waiting for that, I asked the surgeon assigned to do my Op 2 questions.

The first: “If I was the perfect patient, what would be the best way to Rehab after the surgery?”

The second question was: “If I was the perfect patient, what would be the best way to PreHab before the surgery, in terms of an exercise regime, but maybe optimum lifestyle changes too?”

Together we co-created a to do list which looked at: diet, weight loss, general mobility, sleep, stress reduction, flexibility and hydration.

(Again, no surprised there then.)

With the Doc’s road map in mind, I needed a guide to walk me through the advice.

Luckily, I had just the man in mind: Andrew MaCauley, the physio and coach who I’d worked with when my injury was first diagnosed.

We’d hoped in those early days that my dicky-knee could be fixed by Physio.

No such luck. I was a lost cause, my knackered knee was too far gone.

Covering not only the exercises, but also nutrition, weight loss advice, sleep and stress reduction, (including short guided meditation and mindfulness exercises from James Reeves.)

Week #2 Live Zoom check-in/Accountability workshop. Free 5 day Mon-Fri email based coaching and support. (You get weekends off.)

Week #3 Free 5 day Mon-Fri email based coaching and support.

Week #4 Live Zoom course graduation, de-brief and Q&A. (60 minutes.)

Week #5 Onwards. Kneehab Club….weekly live online support group. (Or self organising, I put my time into 4 week journey helping as many people as possible. £350 pm. Free slots available if asked.
